Seasons come and go, but one piece you can always rely to carry you through three out of four of the seasons, is a leather jacket. And you know in between seasons when you not quite sure what is going on with the weather, those are the moments your leather jacket will come to the rescue.
Leather jackets can be quite expensive and might cause a slight dent to your bank accountant, but it will definitely make an impressive impact on your wardrobe. When it comes to buying clothes 'quality over quantity' is my rule of thumb. If you had R3000.00 do you spend all on seasonal fast-paced pieces or perhaps three quality investment pieces that will never go out of style?.Now I honestly would buy two investments pieces and spend the rest on seasonal pieces. The point I'm trying to make is that there are certain pieces in your wardrobe that you should splurge on like jeans, coats, and of course a leather jacket these are investments pieces, pieces that you will be able to wear for years to come. Like I mentioned above your leather jacket is one that will carry your through almost every seasons, and never has to be stored away. And since we moving from summer to autumn its the perfect time either invest in a leather jacket or simply bring it to the front of your wardobe. For me I can literally throw my leather jacket on to even a mediocre outfit and make it look great.

There’s something about warm weather that puts me in a festive mood- I should be sun-tanning on a beach, sipping on ice cold granite already, but unfortunately for the next few months, I will just have to suck it up and wait (sigh).
Spring/summer means more parties, more going out, more lunch dates, and for me a welcomed excuse to refresh my wardrobe. I’ve closely been following the SS17 runways from all around the world, and have already refreshed my wardrobe accordingly. In general SS17 is a mixture of bold prints, vibrant stripes, bare shoulders, fancy embellishments, and cute feminine ruffles. Here’s a list of five my favourite trends that I have added to my wardrobe this season. MY FIVE FAVOURITE SPRING SUMMER TRENDS 2017: Vibrant Stripes This trend has been parade all over the runways vertically, horizontally, basically in every way imaginable, from monochrome stripes to graphic stripes and even colourful stripes-Personally I used to find stripes a little tacky, and if worn wrongly this trend can look tacky and cheap. But if you find the right balance, a great looking stripe piece can add statement or subtle style to any outfit. Ways to wear stripes this season with looking tacky: On Tuesday I posted an insta-story asking you ladies what you’d like to see, for my next blog post (hence this one right here) and a lot of you said body shape, now I understand that fashion is about proportions and flattering those proportions is a vital part. But no matter what you read in the fashion magazines, or online, even in this blog post of mine, always remember there is no ‘too-the-tee’ approach when it comes to style. The fun thing about fashion and the main reason why we’re so crazily in love with great clothes and shoes, is that literally anything goes, if it make you look and feel good too, than honey that outfit is a keeper! I believe fashion is my creative outlet a way in which I express myself and not always do I buy pieces according to my body shape, and 90% of the time while shopping I don’t even take my body shape in to consideration (I love trying new trends even though they frowned upon or maybe don’t flatter me, if you like me, than always remember, 'first they laugh than they copy') and neither should you.Your body type does not define what you should wear, or shouldn’t, every body shape is beautiful in its own right, there’s no need to hide imperfection because those imperfection are what make you beautiful and unique. This article is simply for interest sake. We all have different body types each of them should be equally embraced, when discussing body types there are five main body types, namely; apple-shape, pear-shape, rectangle-shaped, inverted-triangle shape, hour-glass shape. Follow my simple guide below on what body type you are, and what to wear for your body type APPLE-SHAPE BODY:
WHAT TO WEAR/AVOID APPLE BODY SHAPE:
WHAT TO WEAR/AVOID PEAR-SHAPE BODY:
RECTANGULAR BODY SHAPE:
INVERTED-TRIANGLE(Strawberry) SHAPE:
WHAT TO WEAR/AVOID INVERTED TRIANGLE SHAPE:
WHAT TO WEAR/ AVOID HOURGLASS BODY SHAPE:
I hope you ladies enjoyed reading this, and remember every body type is beautiful in its own right, this article is simply for interest sake and I encourage you,to buy pieces that ultimately make you feel and look beautiful, stop giving the media and ultimately society the upper hand when it comes to your body, stop letting them decide what must look like.Embrace your imperfection, show off your skinny legs or chunky legs, be comfortable in your own skin. “I am imperfect and yet my imperfections like any great work of art are what makes me a masterpieces” Yodha Xx December has officially made its mark, down here in South Africa and nothing says December more than, sunny long days, beach parties every weekend, oh yes and jetting off to vacation. Yes, travelling the world and feeding your wonder-lust is of one the most satisfying feeling in the world, but it does come with having to pack. Packing and me share what I call a love-hate-kind-of-relationship, because I want to pack almost every single item in my closet "just in case I need it" and I think most women suffer the 'Just in case syndrome "this syndrome involves having thoughts such as "just in case it rains" "just in case I have to go to a party" "just in case I need a pair of running shoes" and this syndrome develops from the trickiness of trying to travel fashionably. Whether you are a seasonal traveler, or not I'm pretty sure you find packing a little daunting. Now I have six valuable tips to always keep in mind when packing, these tips will help you travel fashionably, and make packing less stressful. MY SIX TIPS TO TRAVELLING FASHIONABLY:
Now that you all packed and ready to go, its time to make unforgettable memories,
as John Steinbeck , "People don't take trips. Trips take people." Your suitcase, however, that's all you! MY LOOK: this is one of the looks I packed along with me in December, it's simple yet rather trendy and comfy. Shrit Dress: Refinery Choker: Lovisa Sneakers: Adidas Sunglasses: Forever New Xx Yodha I couldn't be more trilled than to share with you beauties this local brand I recently discovered...Dear Makena appearel, now we all know the boring stuff about how important, it is to support local businesses, and buy locally made stuff, but our country is filled with extraordinary individuals and Karen Govender is one of them.Karen is the proud founder and designer of Dear Makena Apparel and has put together a range of beautiful Africa inspired skirts( now we all know the African print has been taking over the runways recently)with the aim of leaving women feeling feeling happy in their hearts and a warm smile of their face . The Jahari skirt is a vibrant coloured skirt with exquisite detail Africa print. I am honestly in love with this skirt the fit was perfect it made my waist smaller and hide away my big hips (which is one of my many problem areas). The Jahari skirt is definite must have for your Spring wardrobe, which can easily translate to summer. The material is of a great quality and very structured which gives a couture kind of feel, yet it looks flowly on the eye.The best part about the skirt isbthe pockets they make the skirt versatile as you have a place for your lip-gloss, and adds something quirky to the skirt. I paired the skirt up with a trendy of the shoulder top from refinery and ta-da a simple yet trendy look with my gorgeous wedges from Mr Price. for more details about Dear Makena Apparel head over their Facebook/Instagram @dearmakenaapparel xX Yodha Flowers are blooming, the sun is warming up the soil, and the hem line of your dresses are getting short, there a feeling of regrowth and regeneration in the air. With that being said there are few rather typical Spring trends which we expect to see every year; floral patterns, bright hues and varying lengths of dresses, skirts and shorts. But if you looking for a style that will make sure you not that typical girl and keep your remarkable status, as one the trendiest girls amongst your friends you going to have to step things up, and move away from your typical go-to norms. This season boldest trends range from slip dresses, cut-out shoulders, block heels and Victorian inspired pants, tops and dresses. While changing it up this season my best advice is always stay true to yourself. Remember, fashion is creative outlet that represents you as individual. A few months ago I discovered Tally Weijl a brand that appealed to my personal style, allowing me to express myself better with the most exquisite clothing items, and wide variety of styles helping me to be one of the most trendiest girls amongst my girlfriends, but more importantly allowing me to feel comfortable and beautiful, and you all know my motto "if you look beautiful, you feel beautiful, if you feel beautiful you become confident" Being a curvy girl I always perceived Tally Weijl to be a brand for the petite till I fell in love with this beautiful off the shoulder dress that flattered my every curve, boosting my confidence and making me realize that, Tally Weijl is not only for the petite but for curvy girls too. They cater for every size and every trendy style you looking for, all their clothing items are versatile , and do not even get me start on the amazing exceptional quality of clothing. This playful cold shoulder dress has become one of my favourite spring editions and definitely a pieces I will be carrying through to summer.Wearing this dress made me feel alluring, and as if I could take over the world. The Tally Weijl off the shoulder dress is with out a doubt versatile, comfortable, and breathtakingly beautiful. The dress can be easy paired with your favourite white sneaker(mine are Stan smiths from adidas) making the dress perfect for any casual occasion, or simply switching it up for a pair of your favourite block heels(mine are from the fixsa) adding a little more glam, and chicness to the over all look.I paired this outfit up with my favourite wrap choker from weweargems and,my cute tiny handbag from forever new, lastly I tied everything up with these dope Sunglasses from my new favourites Tally Weijl. Do not wait another second go ahead and check out Tally Weijl for all the latest trendy clothing mention in my post and if you want to recreate this look too.Tally Weijl can be found at The mall of the South and The mall of Africa Yodha Xx Photography@ FOCALPOINT PHOTOGRAPHER: DENISHA SUBBIAH You probably stumbled across my article, took a look at the title and are now wondering, almost time...for what?(insert drumroll) To say good-bye to winter, of course!
You might have gathered from my previous posts that this season isn't on my favorite list, but nonetheless, I have whole heartedly embraced it,from wearing layers of clothes to taking extra measures to keep my skin moisturized, even purchasing a onesie to beat the winter blues, though there are just somethings we ready to let go off faster then others. Glancing at my wardrobe, my ultimate winter pieces are not something I'm ready to let go off,and even though this good-bye is not forever, simply a till next time, I'm not saying good-bye just yet and neither should you. Before the clock strike Spring O'clock grab your favorite pieces and pair them together just like I did in this post, even if you just picked up something recently in the unbelievable winter sales that's hit stores, put it to use before time runs out. My Look: In this look I grabbed my favorite pieces from my winter closet which was first and foremost, the A-like velvet skirt I picked up from Rage soon as winter started. My crop top is from Mr Price in one of this seasons trendiest colours.I used these laid back boots to give the look a more causual feel (boot are from Mr Price too) and to tie the look together I paired everything up with my handbag from H&M the fringe is not only trendily but adds flow and dimensions to the look, make it a little playful.lLastly some beautiful lose curls to still keep the look edgey but sweet and, if you live to be different turn the skirt back to front like I did one of the pictures. Xx Yodha Before its time for me to turn in for the night, I was reminded that my blog has been a little quiet for the past two weeks, only because this thing called life has gotten the better of me. I always seen people complaining about how hard "adulting" is and only now have I experienced a real huge dose. I've found that growing up means being honest about what I want, what I need, what I feel, and who I am.Its important to understand yourself, and your true place in this world, but also making sure your place works for you and more importantly being happy and content with YOU.Let's be honest for a second we not always going to be happy with ourselves or our place in this world, but we have to remind ourselves that storms fade away and the sun will shine once again. Part of my winter outfit series for my blog, is colours for this season, taking my "adulting" findings into consideration about what I feel towards the colour tan, which always been on my one of many favorite colours, and yes you read right I said "many".I'm such an indecisive person even when it comes to my favorite colour, one minute its white and the next beige, but one thing is for sure I'm a neutral person.Tan pieces in your wardobe is perfect for winter and can easy translate into other seasons(picture this for a second a tan jean/jeggings with a white tank, white sneakers and gold with hints of pastel yellow accessorise, and there you a go a summer outfit with tan). This colour tan compliments any skin tone, whether you really fair, medium or dark. Its a such a warm colour which is perfect for winter as well as any other season, depending on how you would dress the piece. For winter this season I would suggested pairing your tan items with blacks, burgundies, maroons, olive greens, greys, and deep purples, (all these colours are trending this season)and don't shy away from pairing tan on tan just make sure its the same shades of tan, otherwise your look can turn from fab to tacky real quick and you do not want that now.Pairing gold accessorise with your tan pieces can add slight glamor.Tan pieces works well during the short winters days, but with dramatic make up and bold accessorises one make an easy transition from day to night,so if you don't already own tan pieces this winter, I suggest you ahead out and make that worthwhile purchase in a beautiful tan item trust me this colour will not disappoint you. I'm thoroughly enjoying my journey as a blogger/vlogger sharing my greatest love(fashion/beauty) with you all.Do not miss a thing and subscribe to my newsletters, on that note,I'm off to catch up on my beauty sleep... My look: My shirt dress is a beautiful tan piece that I scooped up from H & M about a month and a half back. Its my favourite piece for winter, I love how this piece doesn't need to much to come to life, simple yet stylish, and the best part I can use this shirt dress next season too. Maybe without the leggings and some pretty sandals.I tied my hair back in sleek ponytail to add more charter to the look.My handbag is from River island this colour which just perfect for this season, and adds a little dimension to my look with the colour and shape. My leggings are from cotton on and lastly, my boots are from woolies which is giving short me some height also making my outfit stand out in a way. Xx Yodha As we say good-bye to fall and welcome winter, our wardrobes take slight transition to the warmer side.A side that I personally adore only, because there are so many options.I'm more relieved that the awkward autumn phase were, I find myself in denial of how cold it really is outside has come to an end.Now I can finally pull out my extra fluffy gown, slippers, lets not forget my favorite boots, and get comfy with this coldness. I'm a winter baby but love the summer more. There something mystical about the relationship I share with winter, because I thoroughly enjoy my fall/winter wardrobe as it allows me to express my style, play around with different pieces, and mix up various textures as wells as structure. My long awaited journey as a blogger has finally began, so for the next few weeks I will be sharing different pieces and outfits from my winter closet to yours, so do not forget to check back here next week for more... My look: My faux Fur jacket is a piece I picked up from forever21, I love this piece because its first and foremost warm and stylish.A great statement piece. Its can be easy worn during the day or at night and gives almost any outfit a certain edge.My dress is from Mr Price I actually brought this during autumn and love the lace detail as well as the collar, this burgundy colour is definitely on trend you can add it to your wardrobe with different pieces in this colour. My Leggings are from cotton on, and lastly my boots are from woolies.(you can add a long sleeve black vest top inside the dress to keep you more warm) Xx Yodha |
