.We all love going out and having a full-on spa facial done, and according to skin professional we should actually have a full-facial at least every 4-6 weeks. But for some of us being on a student budget, these facials can be super expensive, and for others we either don’t have the time to go out and get a facial, or we simply aren’t a fan of those chemically enriched products used by many spas. Personally- I’ve never been a fan of spa-facials they have always been harsh on my sensitive skin, leaving me with discomfort and the worst breakouts. So in order to keep blemish away, my complexion even, and deep clean my pores, without going to a spa- I have for about a year now been giving myself facials at-home, that leave me with radiant, fresh and beautiful looking skin as well as some relaxation time. Now no matter what the problem is your skin does not have to suffer with my simple DIY facial, you can have glowing, and radiant skin all year round without the harsh chemicals or being broke. I do suggest doing this facial every 2-3 weeks in order to keep your skin clean, radiant and glowing, this facial is works well on all skin types. YODHA’S DIY FACIAL: 1. Cleanse The first step of your facial is super important. Cleansing the skin removes all the nasty stuff such as dirt, oil and make up to give your skin a ‘clean slate’ make sure to choose a cleanser for your skin type. Before you wash your face with a cleanser remove your make up with a makeup remover-I love using the Clinique take the day off cleansing balm (retails for around R320.00) or you could use make up removing wipes the clicks brand work well with all skin types and is gentle on the skin (retails for around R30.00 for 40 wipes). You can use any cleansers as I mentioned before double check that it’s for you skin type. You really don’t want your skin drying out or getting to oil and leading to a breakout, because you choose the wrong product. If you unsure what skin type you are check my post 'my daily skin care routine’ there’s a mini guide to help figure out what’s your skin type. There’s no need for a fancy cleanser-I simply use my dove beauty bar for this (retails for R10.00) and its does quite a good job cleansing or I use the Yardley oatmeal cleansing gel (R77.00). Directions:
Now that your skin is squeaky, it’s time to bring out your favourite exfoliator. Exfoliating helps even out the appearance of your skin tone, makes pores less visible creating healthier and smoother looking skin-I absolutely love exfoliating, that clean smooth feeling afterwards is heavenly to me, if I could-I would use an exfoliator every single day. There are many exfoliator on the market that you can use- I own about 3 to 4 different brands of exfoliator at this very moment, the Kiki beauty volcanic gold exfoliator is the one that’s standing front and centre in my beauty cabinet (retails for R440.00), the product deep cleans my skin without being harsh, leaving may skin looking radiant, refresh and smoother. Directions:
3. Steam When steam makes its grand appearance into the facial, the home-spa vibe really gets going. Steaming is the most relaxing cleansing part of the facial. Steam basically opens up your pores and extracts the dirt clogged in them. There are many ways to steam choose a method that is most suitable for you. Method 1:
Method 2:
4. Apply a mask After all of those deep cleaning steps it’s finally time for some pampering and relaxation. Your skin is now ready to suck up all those yummy nutrients. Choose a mask that is once again suitable for skin type. The skin republic has an exciting range of masks for every skin type- I’ve tried a variety of skin republic masks, and every time without fail they deliver on what is promised. My favourite mask from skin republic is the bubble purifying + charcoal face sheet mask (retails R56.00), its leaves my skin feeling softer, brighter and visibly evens out my complexion. I do suggest if you have oily skin to use a clay mask such as the boreal Paris pure clay purity mask (retails R150.00) and dry skin to opt for hydrating gel or cream mask. If you looking for something inexpensive or more natural I do have a list of my favourite DIY masks(here).don’t forget to add those cucumber slices to your eyes for an extra spa feel. 5. Tone This helps cool and calm the skin, you can literally use any toner, I use the garner micellar sensitive toner (R56.00), if you want something more organic, opt for lemon juice. Directions
6. Moisturise It’s time to seal in that beautiful skin. Moisturiser is an essential step, especially around the eye the eye area. So pick up your favourite moisturizers, it can any basic moisturiser. At this very moment in time my favourite moisturizer is the natural radiance moisturisers(R360.00) from the Kiki beauty make up range, but I do also love my coconut oil just as much and yes if you looking for an organic option then a pea size of coconut oil or even extra virgin olive oil works extremely well. Unless you have oily skin then please choose moisturiser that is oil-free. And there you go my beauty, you have just give yourself a full-facial without heading out of your house, been exposed you unknown chemically or being broke. “Facials are workouts for your skin” XX Yodha Where to find the products mentioned?

I follow the same steps as you besides steaming. I think I should incorporate that to help clear my pores. Great blog post!
